Serving Up Good at the Food Bank

At Santa Rosa Women for Good, our mission is rooted in community and supporting the people and organizations that make Sonoma County stronger. While our quarterly grants are a powerful way to create impact, we also believe in the value of showing up and serving together.

This week a group of our members spent the afternoon volunteering at the Redwood Empire Food Bank, helping sort and pack food that will go directly to individuals and families throughout our region. It was an energizing experience and one that reminded us how many people are working every day to ensure our neighbors have access to the food they need.

Food insecurity affects thousands of households across Sonoma County, and the Redwood Empire Food Bank plays a critical role in meeting that need. Through their network of partner organizations and direct distribution programs, they provide millions of meals each year to people across the North Bay. Being able to support that work in a hands-on way was a powerful reminder of how important community partnerships are.

Volunteering together also gave our members an opportunity to connect outside of our regular gatherings. Working side by side, sharing conversations, and contributing to a common cause is one of the many ways our community of women continues to grow stronger.

A special thank you goes to our member Judi, who organized this volunteer opportunity and brought our group together for the day. Her leadership helped make this experience possible - thank you Judi!

We’re excited about the positive response from members and hope to make this a regular volunteer opportunity for our community of women. While our model of collective giving allows us to pool resources and fund meaningful grants, these volunteer days provide another way for members to engage with local nonprofits and deepen their connection to the work happening across Sonoma County.

We are grateful to the Redwood Empire Food Bank for welcoming our group and for the essential work they do for our community every day.

If you’re interested in joining Santa Rosa Women for Good and participating in future volunteer opportunities, we would love to have you be part of this growing community of women committed to growing the good in Sonoma County.
